Colonel C.E.R. Mackesy, DSO, CMG, unveiled the Maunu First World War roll of honour during a ceremony held at the Maunu School on 4 August 1921. The white marble memorial tablet listed the names of the 47 men and one woman (Sister Constance Evelyn Cutforth) who had served during the war, including 12 men who had given their lives.
The memorial tablet is not held by the school today, no photograph of it survives, and it must be assumed that it has been lost. However, two other rolls of honour were transferred to the school from the local hall when it was closed down and sold in 1999. The First World War roll of honour is a wooden shield which lists the names of the 12 men from the community who were killed; the Second World War roll of honour is a wooden tablet which lists the names of 33 men who served, two of whom were killed in action.
