Nga Tohu

In 1840 more than 500 chiefs signed the Treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand’s founding document. Ngā Tohu, when complete, will contain a biographical sketch of each signatory.

Keha signed the Waitangi sheet of the Treaty of Waitangi on 4 March 1840 at Karaka Bay in Tāmaki (Auckland). He may have been a Ngāti Pāoa rangatira (chief) with connections to Ngāti Naho of Waikato.

Two of Keha’s sons were killed in battle at Momoreti in 1834 when Ngāti Naho and Ngāti Hine fought Ngāti Pāoa.
